Abstract
The article reveals the relationship between biology and ecology, taking into account the trends in the development of these sciences in the past and present. The place of ecology in the structure of the school course of general biology is determined. The reader’s attention is drawn to the important methodological conditions that allow to increase the efficiency of students ‘ assimilation of the components of the content of environmental education in the process of teaching biology
