Abstract
The article provides of the results of logical-historical analysis experience in training highly qualified engineering personnel and development of research culture of professional engineers as a basis defining willingness to solve research problems. Based on the retrospective of the national training practice future engineer personnel to researchers activity of XIX–XX centuries the determinants of improving the quality of modern technical education are revealed.
